The following is the [XGNews]: “Patent rogue” neodron sued apple and other manufacturers for infringement, and ITC stepped in to investigate recommended by xgapn.com.
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Monday it was investigating a number of technology companies, including apple, into patent infringement in smartphones, computers and other devices with touch screens, according to Appleinsider.
The reason is that more than a month ago, neotron, an empty shell company in Ireland, filed a complaint with ITC under Section 337, claiming that apple, Amazon and other technology companies violated its four touch screen patents.
The company filed a series of lawsuits against apple, Amazon, ASUS, LG, Microsoft, Motorola, Samsung and Sony, demanding royalties on device sales.
In the case against apple, neodron claimed that Apple’s iPhone 11 and the third-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro infringed four patents involving touch-screen keyboard and touch sensor technology.
It house learned that neodron obtained a series of touch screen patents from ATMEL, a Silicon Valley company, in 2018, and then “weaponized” them to sue large industry companies.
The Washington Post pointed out that if neotron wins the lawsuit in 2019, it can apply to ban 80% of Android tablets and 97% of Android smartphones, even if the defendant is unwilling to pay.
